Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center will celebrate Wolf Awareness Week this year on Saturday, October 18, from 5 to 7:00 p.m. We’re very fortunate to have Susan Dicks, DVM, coming to the sanctuary to speak about the reintroduction and recovery of the endangered Mexican gray wolf.
Ms. Dicks works as veterinarian for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in their Mexican wolf recovery efforts. Guests will also receive a wolf-related gift package and a tour of the sanctuary. Lobos of the Southwest will have an exhibit at the Hueco Tanks State Park 20th Annual Interpretive Fair. We’ll have displays of photos, maps, track casts of Mexican gray wolves in the wild, and Mexican wolf information available at our booth from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We’ll be available all day to answer questions and hand out free information about lobo reintroduction. Come celebrate Wolf Awareness Week with us!

Southwest Environmental Center at Get Wild Festival

Our table will be located on the east side of the Civic Plaza, north of the beer garden.
Come out and say hello at the Southwest Environmental Center’s table at the Get Wild Festival in Albuquerque on October 18th. The festival will be located at the Civic Plaza and is running concurrently with the Wilderness Conference at the Hyatt Regency. SWEC will be out from 2:00pm-10:00pm. Drop by our table and take action for wildlife and their habitats, check out some new displays, and find out how you can get involved!

Parents and children alike can celebrate Wolf Awareness Week by attending together. Camp cost is $50 for the first person and $45 for each additional parent or child. Kids and parents can learn about wolves, play games that show how wolves live, take a fun hike and get a chance to see and photograph some of the most endangered animals in the world.
