Winner Chosen for 2012 Wolf Stamp Artwork

NM Wild has chosen a winner for the 2012 Mexican Wolf Conservation Stamp contest. The winning entry, “By Cover of Night,” was submitted by artist Catherine M. Howell of Iola, Texas. Howell’s artwork will be featured on this year’s limited edition Conservation Wolf Stamp, which will be available soon for purchase online.
The Mexican Wolf Conservation Stamp is a conservation project created by the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance. Started in 2011, it is an annual contest enjoyed by artists and collectors alike.  The concept is similar to the Duck Stamp sold by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, except no hunting will be related to the sale of the stamp. Instead, proceeds will be used for a the Mexican Wolf Conservation Stamp Fund, administered by NM Wild and distributed to individuals and organizations working for Mexican gray wolf recovery.
It’s not too late to start a collection.  There are still some 2011  limited edition wolf stamps still available.  Click here to order.
Proceeds go to protect wolf habitat and educate the public.
