Action: January 13, 2016 launches Four State Day of Action to Save the Lobo

According to peer reviewed research by wolf experts appointed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to the Science and Planning Subgroup of the Mexican wolf recovery plan team, the four corners states — Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah — are all essential for Mexican wolf recovery. 

But rather than welcoming wolves home, elected and appointed officials in all four of these states are working to undermine the recovery of critically endangered lobos, including by pressuring the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to base the Mexican wolf recovery plan on anti-wolf political agendas rather than sound science.

Deplorably, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has been giving in to the demands of states hostile to wolf recovery and has recently shut the public and the scientists out of planning for the Mexican gray wolf’s future by initiating closed door meetings with representatives from the four corners states.

It is critical at this time that wolf supporters in all four states speak out loudly against their elected and appointed officials’ efforts to sabotage the Mexican gray wolf.

Please join us in telling state and federal agencies to stop making backroom deals and instead concentrate on the best available science to recover the Mexican gray wolf.

A large showing of wolf supporters at these events is needed to counter state opposition to Mexican wolf recovery and to give the U.S. Fish and Wildlife support to do the right thing for wolves. Please join us in standing for wolves.

You can also help by contacting the Secretary of Interior and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director. Tell them that anti-wolf states must not be allowed to interfere with a science based recovery plan.
