UNM Wolf Fest 2012 – Friday, March 23

UNM Wolf Fest 2012 is an all-day event to celebrate and raise awareness of UNM’s mascot, the Mexican grey wolf, sponsored by UNM Wilderness Alliance and UNM Biology Undergraduate Society.
The festival will feature booths from over 25 nonprofits and campus organizations promoting the reintroduction of Mexican wolves and their role in UNM and New Mexican heritage. The event’s advocacy activities for wolves will include letter-writing booths, chalking, chants, howls, and an appearance by ambassador wolves from Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. Additionally, fantasy author Jane Lindskold will be present to sign copies of her books.
Wolf Fest 2012 will be on March 23rd on the UNM Main Campus in Smith Plaza (in front of Zimmerman Library). The festival will start at 8:00am and wrap up around 5:00pm.  There will also be a screening of Lords of Nature with a Q&A session for those who want to know more about wolf politics and conservation.
This is going to be a great event!  Come on out and celebrate our Mexican gray wolves and help raise awareness of this wonderful animal.  We’ll be there too, so be sure to stop by and say Hello!
Click here for a great podcast with Kevin McCormick of the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance.  He talks about the event, as well as the science and politics of wolves.
