This Earth Day, Help Lobos by Staying Informed and Getting Involved!

Happy Earth Day! Thank you for your interest in protecting the highly endangered Mexican gray wolf!

Over the past few years, lobo supporters have written thousands of letters and emails to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and members of Congress, made phone calls to officials, submitted letters to the editor, and aided the efforts of conservation groups to save the highly endangered Mexican wolf.

These actions are making a real difference. Without these kinds of actions, Mexican wolves would never have been reintroduced in the first place. Because of public pressure and organized support for lobos, the Fish and Wildlife has only removed one wolf from the wild because of livestock losses since the beginning of 2008, a big improvement over their actions in 2007, when they removed several entire packs. But with only 75 wolves in the wild, including only 3 breeding pairs, it is imperative that we continue to act on the lobos’ behalf.

There are a number of ways for Lobo lovers to stay informed and get more involved with efforts to recover Mexican wolves from the brink of extinction:
