TAKE ACTION: Your Attendance and Comments are Needed
The newly appointed New Mexico State Game Commission will be hearing a presentation about the trapping ban in the Gila to protect Mexican Wolves. This was adopted in response to Governor Richardson’s executive order which only had to be in place until April 1. NM Game and Fish contracted with the Fish and Wildlife Service Cooperative Research Unit at NMSU to examine the effect of trapping on lobos. The new Governor and Commission needs to see that our wolves have support.

The complete agenda can be found here. The Gila trapping ban is item # 18 so it won’t be the first part of the meeting. If you’d like to comment, there is a 3 minute limit and you must sign up by filling out a speaker’s card when you get there. Agenda Item 19 is for comment on any subject and you may use that time to oppose trapping in general because it is so indiscriminate.

PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD. It is important that there is a strong public presence at this meeting of those opposed to trapping on public lands that can harm wolves and other wildlife. Call, email, Facebook, etc., with everyone you know — especially friends and family in the Albuquerque area that can attend the meeting.
