In the Press; Spot an endangered wolf in Tucson this week

TUCSON – Fifty endangered Mexican wolves will be on the streets of Tucson this week – or at least, their silhouettes will be here.

Conservation organization Defenders of Wildlife will be planting 50 silhouettes created by local artist Lauren Strohacker around the city for a scavenger hunt aiming to raise public awareness of the challenges facing the rare and critically-endangered Mexican wolf.

The “Where’s El Lobo” contest runs from September 3 through the 17, and will give Tucson residents the chance to win an Apache Wilderness Journey, a vacation package for two worth $3,000. Other prizes will be given to those who can find “El Lobo.” The art pieces will be hosted by local businesses, ward offices, libraries and organizations around the city.
