ACT TODAY TO STOP EXTINCTION!
Only about 42 Mexican gray wolves remain in the wild anywhere in the world.
These wolves are the most endangered mammal in North America, but Montana Representative Denny Rehberg wants to remove the only safety net they have-the Endangered Species Act.
Rehberg’s bills would strip protections from ALL gray wolves in the United States. These bills will place Mexican gray wolves, already teetering on the brink of extinction, in enormous peril.
We can’t let this happen. Please contact your members of Congress today, and ask everyone you know to do the same.
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) requires that decisions on delisting be based on the best available science. Never before has a species been taken off the endangered species list by an act of Congress that would amend the ESA.
If this happens, wolves and ultimately, all wildlife, will be in grave danger – their survival will depend on political, rather than scientific, considerations.
The Endangered Species Act may be the only thing standing in the way of extinction of the fewer than 50 Mexican gray wolves that remain in the wild. Now is not the time to remove federal protection for wolves and the habitat they need to survive.
Supporters of wolves and other wildlife need to flood the White House and Congress with protests against this congressional end-run around the Endangered Species Act.
Please, call or write right away and tell everyone you know to do the same. None of our wildlife is safe if Congress and the Obama administration are willing to let political considerations trump science and law.
