In the News: New Mexico to Update Trapping Ban in Gray Wolf Area
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — The state Game Commission meets in Albuquerque this week and will get an update on a temporary ban on trapping in parts of southwestern New Mexico where Mexican gray wolves have been reintroduced.
The commission meets Thursday at the University of New Mexico’s Continuing Education Conference Center.
The trapping ban on public lands was ordered last year by then Gov. Bill Richardson while researchers study what risk traps and snares pose to wolves.

The commission’s membership has changed because of recent appointments by Republican Gov. Susana Martinez.
