HELP GIVE MEXICAN WOLF PUPS NAMES WITH OUR 11TH ANNUAL PUP NAMING CONTEST FOR KIDS

Mexican gray wolves are the most endangered gray wolves in the world. Fewer than 200 roam the wildlands of the Southwest.  And just like people, every Mexican wolf is special and deserving of his or her own identity.

Every year in the winter the Interagency Field Team conducts a population survey of the Mexican wolves in the wild.  As part of this survey, they collar and identify with numbers pups that were born the previous spring.  Our Pup Naming Contest is a way to celebrate and recognize the pups that were born in 2022.

The agencies give them numbers, and with your help, we give them the names they deserve.

The naming contest is open to children across the globe and is a great way for kids, teachers, and parents to learn and share information about these wonderful animals.  Entries can be submitted by individuals or teams.

We have compiled some educational resources and activities to help make this contest a great learning experience for kids from kindergarten through eighth grade.  Check out these resources on our dedicated Pup Naming Contest website.
