Lobos Need You in ABQ November 20!

The US Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed to strip gray wolves’ endangered species protections and make other changes that threaten the survival and recovery of Mexican gray wolves.

Fifteen years after they were reintroduced, only 75 Mexican gray wolves remain in the wild, and they have undergone dangerous genetic deterioration due to government and private shooting and trapping, along with a freeze on wolf releases to the wild.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) now proposes changes to Mexican wolf management —two good changes and many more that will worsen the lobo’s already-tenuous plight.

The FWS will hold a public hearing on its proposal on Wednesday, November 20 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They must listen to all those speaking up for and against the lobo.

The Koch brothers, secretive anti-conservation and anti-labor billionaires, have teamed up with the livestock industry to sway the government at this event.

You and other supporters of the Mexican wolf are all that will stand between extinction and survival for these critically endangered, beautiful, intelligent animals.  Please speak up for the lobo November 20.

Location:

Embassy Suites, 1000 Woodward Place NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102

Schedule:

Starting at 4 p.m., we will be offering information, materials, coffee, and support in the Ocotillo 2 room at the Embassy Suites.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service will open the hearing room at 5 pm so people can begin signing up to speak but we encourage you to come earlier if you can.

From 5:15 to 6 p.m. we invite you to join us outside the hearing location for a sidewalk rally
to show public support for the Lobos! (please dress warmly).

6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Public Hearing

This is a historic opportunity. A critical mass of supporters in Albuquerque on November 20 can turn the tide for the Mexican gray wolf.  Please save the date and spread the word.

We will give the first 500 people to come to the rally or Ocotillo II room a free Lobos-Love ’em or Lose ’em koozie!
